Birch Trees Watercolor Tutorial

I have not seen many birch trees in real life, definitely not in any snow... hopefully one day.

Anyway.... I absolute love them. And they are so fun to paint doesn't matter what medium you like. They are pretty in watercolor, acrylic, gouache... etc.

I did a quick tutorial where you can either sketch with me or use my template.

My paper size is 5 x 7.

You can use tape to keep trees spaces white, or masking fluid or you can just wing it like I did. If you use tape anywhere on your paper, make sure to use a heat gun or hairdryer (warm air) before you peel the tape to avoid tearing your paper.

Supplies:

  • Pencil

  • Kneaded eraser

  • Template or draw with me

  • Tape to tape down template or to make a frame

  • Watercolor paper

  • Paint brushes, various sizes

  • Watercolor paint

  • Cup of water

  • Towel

Reading this watercolor tutorial about birch trees feels very calm and nice. I once tried painting trees like this at home, but I kept making mistakes with the brush lines and felt a bit stressed because I also had exams coming at the same time. In that busy week, I had online Marketing exam taking services to help me stay on track with studies while I focused on art practice. It made things feel easier and less heavy for me. Nice post, it make me smile.
